I am in a travel trailer and laptop it plenty. My bank is offering me a free Dell Inspiron 531s computer. Only catch is a deposit remains for a year (yes I get interest on that too) I offered it to my girlfiend but having a real tough time getting her to accept it. She has no computer, but sons 5&9. I'm sure the computer would be usefull to her boys as well. HELP! If she doesn't take it it's like I'm throwing $400 away. I suppose my alternative is to donate it to the library or one of the schools. But they like their own models. Help me convince her. She'll see the answers on the computer she accesses from someone else's house. See what devious things I do to convince you Honey?

No indebtedness here. Just the giving of something like this is the reward. I absolutely love the way this woman is concerned for my spending and all. But this is a total freebee. And in taking this insures I won't withdraw my savings for at least 1 year. Seems a Win-Win-Win situation for everyone. My girlfriend, me and the bank.

E-bay is not an option for me. I never sell my things, cars or anything else. I either give it to family, friends, charities, government use, or to someone I see in need. This is the way I have spent my way to poverty. But love it. My lifestyle is really rewarding.

Thanks for the input. It was really difficult but the love of my life finally accepted the computer. Oh there was a bit of indebtness here. She has to give me a slice of her delicious homemade pecan pie....... maybe 2. I drive some real hard bargains. And she is the most incredible, beautiful, intelligent and loving woman I have ecer met

Maybe it's not that she doesn't want to be indebted to you , but rather that she has morals, values, a sense of independence, pride and feels she will compromise these things by accepting such a lavish gift from you, even if you did get it for free. Most men complain that that's all women want from them, is what they can get. Here you have a woman that wants nothing more from you than your love. But as someone else has pointed out, Christmas is just around the corner, and maybe, just maybe, if offered in that manner, she would be more accepting of this gift that you offer. My guess is, when she sees this underhanded attempt at what amounts to no more than manipulation on your part, she is not going to be very pleased with you about it. But it is also my guess that having the very qualities mentioned above, that she will be willing to forgive you and will love you in spite of it.

Well, the resources have already been used to create the computer. If she doesn't take it its like SHE is wasting it as well. By not using the resources there has been unneeded damage to the environment through fossil fuels being burned throughout the creation process of the item.
On a personal note, I understand how great it feels to give a gift especially one that is needed. I think sometimes it feels better to give than to receive. If she doesn't accept its like robbing you of the joy of giving her something she needs (I am assuming need due to the fact that she will be accessing this from someone else's computer).

Just it to her for a Christmas present is the best way to handle that.

It sounds like she dosn't want to be indebted to you. I think it goes beyond her not wanting it.
