the next President? I have tried to be as respectful to Bush as I possibly can because he is the President. But my gloves are off now. What is he thinking? We have completely exhausted the troops we have left and he signs a declaration with Iraq to keep us there permanently. I cannot believe this. He knows the largest percentage of Americans want out of Iraq. The man cares nothing about the will of the people. He has turned into a dictator.

Glenn T-If I had to pick between Socialism and a Dictatorship which one should I pick. And Bush is not doing the will of the people. If you think that then you aren't aware of the will of the people. And I suppose that Republicans aren't after votes. All candidates are after votes because it takes votes to win.

Anonymou-And how moral is it to lie to Congress to get them to vote for the invasion of Iraq? Don't preach morality to me. George Bush is not a good role model for morality. His former Press Secretary said he was a liar in so many words.

Aussie Sheila-Thank you! I like Dorothy Dix. And yes, I have no problem admitting that I have an agenda. My son was sent to a war based on lies and came back paralyzed and brain damaged. Now I can live with that because I have no choice. But what I cannot fathom is a President and his party that will send troops to war and then not vote or promote stem cell research that could help a lot of Veterans. And I'm sure being an Aussie that you have never had to deal with the tons of beauracracy that the VA system entails nor the incompetence and ineptness of so many VA Hospitals and facilities. Damn right I have an agenda. I would fight to the death for my son.

STEVEN F-I'm not just claiming it. Watch the news tonight. And the next President would have to do it at the expense of the World disrespecting us more than they already do for breaking a document that is only a step below a treaty. Why do it in the 1st place when it not what the majority of American people want?

I have no respect for a person who has cheated through life and now has bankrupt the US. When will people realize that Bush is interested ONLY in the pocket books of his friends...and would kill ever single one of our men and women in uniform if it would make him money?
Yes, he has turned into a dictator. Yes, Bush also wants to make it hard for the next President to change policies which have made his friends rich.

The ONLY thing permanent the government does is TAX and SPEND. Even if the President signed an agreement that ATTEMPTED to do what you claim, the next President would still have the power as Commander-in-Chief to order the military out of ANY location.

I find if very hard to believe that there are still people around that believe Iraq had WMDs and they were a threat to America. How many reports that say there where none do we need. Even Bush admitted there were no WMDs. The people in Iraq don't want us there. I guess that doesn't matter as long as we want to be there. The reports say there is no military solution. We are borrowing money to fight this war. Why are we fighting for a freedom in Iraq while we are losing our freedoms?
It wouldn't surprise me is Bush made a law saying he had to remain in office until the war is over to finish the job he started.

i think of the yank troops could pull out. i think of the place the challenge lies in our u . s . a . is from little ones. we are taught from an extremely youthful age to win. some human beings grow to be adulthood believing it somewhat is that in the process user-friendly terms way. i would not verify out pulling out each and all of the troops in Iraq as a lose. What replaced into our purpose to be there interior the 1st place. I wont bypass into each and all of the lies for the clarification the troops have been sent because of the fact all of us understand them. yet that suggested we did rid the rustic of a dictator which replaced into reliable even nonetheless I do have faith as quickly as we do pull out yet another dictator will take his place. yet it somewhat is the individuals of Iraqs selection not ours to make. So for my area the U. S. troops could pull out and enable this u . s . a . have the variety of goverment they choose and that i additionally think of that our u . s . a . alongside with something of the international could help with the cost of rebuilding Iraq. the midsection East has very different strategies than something of the international and in the event that they desire to proceed with the warlords struggling with then it somewhat is the destiny they choose for themselves. yet help does could take transport of to those who desire to go away the rustic and stay in a greater non violent enviroment. all people who solutions this question announcing that Iraq attacked us on 9-11 is ignorant and might truly study something in the previous they make themselves much greater stupid than they appear like now.

The job of a President is NOT to listen directly to what the people want. If it was, then Presidents would be elected by popular vote. But it is not. The job of a President is to take into account what the people are saying, and then, based on the citizen's opinions, to decide what they think is best for the country.
This being said, Bush rightfully thinks that it is in America's best interest to have troops stay in Iraq, despite what Democrats are trying to say about him in the press. Being a good President, he is sacrificing his popularity to do what is best for America. Furthermore, it is our moral responsibility to stay in Iraq until they are able to successfully run independently. Until then, we need to keep our troops there to assist them. We invaded Iraq in the first place because they proposed a threat to the United States and other nations because they had weapons. Once our troops were in there, they need to stay there until our mess is cleaned up.
Now that you know all of the facts, what do you think?
Make sure you know what you are talking about before you stomp on the President of the United States's decisions. I think that a President whose career it is to research and decide what is best for this country knows a little bit more than you.
Edit: I also agree with what Glenn T. has to say, and (most) of what Rick K. stated.

Its pretty obvious isn't it. The next president will have to clean up his mess while he and his friends make the last killing. Its better than robbing Fort Knox and the beauty of it is theres no danger involved and its legal.

But on the other hand, 80% of Americans want the boarder protected and Illegals the hell out of here. Democrats care nothing about the will of the people, they will turn this country into a socialist one. So your point is? At least Bush is doing something he feels is the right thing, where the Democrats just want votes, whether the country suffers or not!

If we leave now, we'll have another Somalia on our hands. And if the terrorists can defeat us again, as they did in Somalia (Thank you Warren Christopher), they will be emboldened to attack our interests even more.
Look, Bush screwed up the war. It should have been over in a year. But they disbanded the entire government and the entire army. The only people who knew how to get things done were fired, and you had a few hundred thousand young men with no jobs, and guns. A perfect recipe for disaster.
But at this point, we have to finish the job. If we don't, we'll be paying the price for decades to come.
