for ease of use and for the exact functions you are looking at, as well as adding protection, i recommend net nanny!

It will ask for a password for you to get on the internet, and based on user - as in the kids ages - you can filter out or simply only allow them to access certain sites.

With this you can also limit what time of day that they are allowed access to the internet!

It depends on what Operating System you have. If you have XP, then you need another program (without fiddling with the administrative services).

If you have a Mac or Vista, then the parental controls should be easy to go through. For both it's in the System Preferences or Control Panel respectively.

As for external programs, Watchdog is really effective in not only blocking, but it can, if you want to, set a timelimit for either hte internet, or even the whole account itself. (signs the person out automatically once the time is up).

well first if they don't already go ahead and get them there own account on the computer.next go on the administer account(whitch should be yours) and then go to the start menu,go to control panal, then from there there should be manage accounts links or somehting that lets you control the account settings.from there go to the kiddos user account settings and there should be parental control setting.then just go through it and see what you want the settings to be.
