Does anyone know why e e cummings uses weird structure and form in his poetry?

Question

More specifically, is there something in his life that made him so eccentric? Like did he experience something that caused him to be weird.
I am writing a research paper and I think my thesis is going to be on his unique form. If there any other suggestions for a thesis let me know as well.
