Aaliyah (2 A's) is the traditional spelling of the name, with the single A being a more recent (fsvo recent) variation on it. As for which way for you to spell it? Well, thats not for faceless folk on a message board to decide. I personally prefer the double-A spelling, but this is something that you and your husband to need to come to a happy agreement on together. Its not the kind of argument that someone can "win". Good luck to you and congratulations on your forthcoming blessing.

Just spell it Eliyah. Or name it a different name. It's special to name a baby, but don't get into an argument. Don't sweat the small stuff and everything's small. Comprimise. If you guys compromise, then you will probably either end up naming it a different name, or one will get chosen. If it doesn't matter which way you spell it, and it has the same meaning, then oh, you guys!!!! Good luck!!

Aaliyah reminds me of the singer... Aliyah- people may nickname her Ali ---- I would go with Aaliyah! If he wants something that looks wrong try Aleyah or Aleayah.... LOL!

Do what you want. My daughter's name has 2 A's although its not Aaliyah. Or change the name completely to avoid the fights.

I would say two A's because with it spelled Aaliyah, it would be different than other people's names.
(Good Name Choice!!!)
Congrats on the baby

I think since Aaliyah (no matter how it is spelled) was the #91 most popular name for baby girls last year, she's have lots of friends who spell it all kinds of ways.

Aaliyah with 2 a's looks a bit like a typo, and when your child gets into school, and highschool the teachers will be continually spelling it wrong, and pronuncing in wrong. I no this from expirence because i am the queen of miss-spelt names. Mine's Keiyotiey, pronunced Coyotee (The savage dog, thing) and im 15 and in highschool, so i no what its like because becasue no-one ever spells it right. please go with the one a.
xx kye.
