People change their minds all the time--better now than after you graduate! (That's the first argument). You need real, concrete reasons why you want to change, such as you don't get inspired by the coursework and nnow that you know more about architecture you aren't quite as interested. I would also go to them with a plan of how much longer it will take you to get a degree in another major, and how you will do it (courses, etc.) to show that you have thoroughly researched this. I know someone who changed majors five times, and turned out fine!

Just tell them that you want to change majors and give them the reason why. When I switched majors my main reason was because while I loved English, I was really better at art, I enjoyed it more than English, and it was a subject area that I really loved, my parents knew that and were ok with my decision.

What you have to tell your parents is that you've discovered that architecture just isn't for you; (a lot of people switch majors, some even in their junior and senior years). If have another subject area in mind that you want to major in, just tell them.

If you think that they may be upset with you for wanting to change majors, you could do some research on jobs that you could get with your new major and what they pay.
