I have been wondering this for a while now but when i look under system proporties my computer lists that it has an intel pentium 4 processor runing at 3.20 and 3.21GHz. And when i open the task manager it has two different graphs for the processor. At times one graph will spike while the other stays flat so im pretty sure its not a mistake that there is two graphs. Is this just an error or does it actually have two cores. My other computer also has a pentium 4 processor however it shows that there is only one core running at 3.0 GHz, and in the task manager there is only one graph. If you can plz tell me what you think is in my computer or what you think is wrong with my computer.

THiS IS THE FOOL PROOF WAY TO FIND OUT HOW MANY CORES YOU HAVE.
start menu, run, dxdiag, under the first screen you'll see, look under processor to see how many cores you have.
there are pentium 4 solo and duo, so nobody here on the forums can be sure, except you, going through the aforementioned process

pentium dual core is better, no contest. the clock speed is almost the same, its got 2 cores to the P4s 1, and its based off the core 2 architecture, which more than makes up for the small difference in clock speed. Even the amount of L2 cache is about the same. The t3400 has 1mb and the P4 has either 512kb or 1mb if that's a desktop P4.

At 3.2Ghz, if it's showing 2 CPU Utilization graphs, it's likely a socket 478 Pentium D, which is a dual core processor.
Hope that helps.

your P4 cpu has what is called hypertheading, this gives it an extra virtual core, while this is not as good as dual core it is much better that just plain single core, i have a P4 3.6 gig and in task manager the second graph is for the second "virtual" core, the pc treats it as a dual core. your other pc has an older P4 cpu, they dont have hyperthreading so the pc only sees one core

It's possible that you have two separate P4 processors. The computers at my school have those. I'm 100% sure they're not dual cores, but two physically separate CPUs. If you have a more businessy type of computer, that might be the case.
I really don't think it's a mistake or something harmful. Looks like you just have a different computer than the usual.

If it's a Pentium 4, then it only has one core. What you're probably seeing are a temperature graph and a usage % graph. As far as system properties, Pentium 4 @ 3.20 is the name, and 3.21 is the frequency it's running at (sometimes it'll fluctuate).

there is a dual core pentium 4. each core dont have the same functions so the graph are not the same in the task manager. dont be confused, in our office we use dual core p4 too.

it is because the older p4's have HT, with HT (hyperthreading) which simulates a second core, but there is only 1 physical core. It will show up as two cores.

the 3.20 and and 3.21 is the same the 3.20 is actally 3.2 and it is when the proccesser is being used by a program or windows. and the 3.21 is probably the actul prossesser speed without being used.

One graph is for CPU usage i.e. the processor usage.
The other graph is PF usage i.e. Page File usage i.e. the memory i.e. Virtual memory
