You can press charges, but then you have to prove that the person actually did it. DAs have bigger fish to fry usually. Unless you live in a small town.
It would be something like damaging public property. It also depends on how much it costs to get it fixed. It might be a felony.
Trouble is most judges will let first time offenders off with probation.
The best thing to do is make him think that you are going to get even. Don't do anything, because you might wind up in jail. Just make him think you are going to get even.

Well, that's vandalism and destruction of private property... if it was a first time offense - odds are they'd just get a slap on the wrist & have to pay a fine (and pay to get the damage to the vehicle repaired)
You'd have to check with your particular state on the specifics about how harsh a punishment can be thrown on a person for committing those acts.

Depends on what the laws are where you are. Could be several charges, such as destruction of property, vandalism, etc. I should think without witnesses or some kind of proof just suspecting somebody isn't enough.
