It is definitely occuring in the philippines as well. and that's just one other country that i have directly heard about. but remember that different cultures have different practices. some would say a healthy organ will go to waste and a good life could be saved... etc. also, if you see abject poverty every day - for your whole life - and someone says "hey this isnt the greatest way

Yes I would think so, but at the moment the main focus in terms of chinas appalling human rights violations will be focused on events surrounding the 2008 Olympic games eg the arrest and deportation of the homeless into the Chinese rural and terribly poverty stricken countryside or the knocking down of houses and apartment blocks by the government and the company's it has business links with, so they can build luxury apartments to sell to the rich and make huge profits or to build roads - all without compensating or re-housing the people they throw onto the streets!

It may be happening, but not legally. China has come under a lot of international criticism for organ harvesting, and unlike many other human rights violations, the ruling Communist party does not view selling organs as essential to its hold on power and is willing to compromise with the West on this issue. New regulations against organ harvesting have been enacted and Chinese medical authorities pledge their cooperation.
