It is so doggoned scary how easy it is to get a computer contaminated and without proper protection, can be turned into junk with just a click.

If you are not using a proper security suite from a reliable vendor that is properly configured and kepy updated vigilantly... and used in conjunction with some basic computer maintenance and safe browsing habits.. and above all common sense.. then you are just asking for whatever trouble you get.

It's not a question of paranoia.. it is a question of simple common sense.

Is wearing a seatbelt paranoia? or is it simple common sense?
Is performing basic maintenance on your car, the brakes, the tires, etc.. paranoia? or is it just common sense?

Are you going to be driving down a dark highway in the rain with your lights off? or are you going to have the common sense to invest in an airbag system and turn on your lights?
Your computer is no different.

Is protecting your ATM card pin number paranoid? Or is it common sense?

Good Luck

They haven't made you overly paranoid. Rather you have just been feed propaganda making you believe that if you don't have Windows..it is bad.
The truth is that over 114,000 virii exclusively infect
Microsoft Windows, and do not infect either Linux or Mac. You just have the wrong operating system. I have Linux and do not fear infection, as I have no antivirus software and have not had an infection since I switched from Windows.
