Maybe 10% sales tax on all goods?

Since its all going on credit you basically are adding a future tax, why not pay it now instead of adding interest to it?

Silver done is when the troops are home and tax payers don't need to pay for it anymore...pretty simple no?

I think a War tax would be healthy..not a regressive tax like a sales tax. I think it would remind everyone what it costs to run a war besides the blood.

Am I the only one around who heard the old phrase "Guns or Butter' in economics? Meaning it is one or the other. Back in Vietnam we pretty much tried to pull the same 'Guns AND Butter' drill, we had an awful financial mess.

Lifesavers cost a Nickel when Dick Nixon took office and cost 50 cents when he left!

On second thought perhaps a sales tax would be better..It would then be in front of EVERYONE whenever they made a purchase. It would not be obfuscated in partisan mud slinging about who raised taxes for what.

Sounds like a good idea, but it would bring lawsuits. They may be up to 60 million illegal people in the country at this time and they also would hvae to pay this tax, since they are not American citizens i see major ACLU activity. Check out Rep. Tancredo, he seems to be on to this.

Wake up! You're already paying a war tax! It's called the Federal Income Tax. That's what it's for(among other things)! It's up to the government to spend it wisely! Geez, I hate it when politicans (or anybody) even suggests that we need any tax increase.
Why not a "National War Lottery"? Sell lottery tickets to support the war...they do it for education!

I would support the idea of Mr Harper doing his job and acting on the wishes of 70% plus of the Canadian people

I would support Mr. Harper developing a servants attitude and casting aside that of master - I would support a Prime Minister who did what he was told by those who pay him his wages and feed him and his children

I would further support a Prime Minister who openly supported the concept of political severants doing what they were told and likeing it

I am sure that the American people would support a President who also did what he or she was told to do by the American people

No.

We have done everything we can to help the Iraqis. Its time leave to let them form their own government and country.

If they want to pay to have our soldiers stay and finance those costs 100% (with cash up front), I would support it.
