Because, I for one, am. And I can't help but laugh at every time I see "Public schools are full of socialist propaganda." Everyday, there is some fundraiser, or some BUSINESS sponsered event. There's always are those school sold rings that cost over $100. Candyman fundraisers? Every year.

From my state's Civics and Economics text book, there is a line in there that says "...but China is Communist so we must be watchful." Where's the pro-socialism there? The preceding sentence in that book said that China is a good ally to the US partly due to strong trade. Anti-capitalism? I don't see any. And this isn't the only example. Not that I have anything against the book.

And I know that there will be all kinds of deflections to the question, as most of us Yahooligans are so fond of doing, but the question still stands. For those who are picky about questions format.

And this applies to all of the public schools I've been too. 2 Elementary. 2 Middle. 2 High. And now an Early College.

Do you have any proof that most teachers are Socialists? Because most of mine weren't. Just because they say share with your classmate does not mean they are socialists.

Yes, public schools are socialist institutions by thier very nature - they are owned, funded, and run by the government. It's true that in some states they're so poorly funded that they turn to other sources, like the various fundraisers you complain about, but thier still state institutions.

The other sense in which schools (and this includes universities, not just public schools and community colleges) are socialist or 'leftist,' is just in the political prejudices of most proffessors. Nothing strange there, academia has long been a stronghold of the left, just as business tends to be a stronghold of the right.

Public schools are dens of sadism and inequities. For the students, they are black holes of despair, violence, and brutalism. They are places to buy drugs and enter in to sexual hook-ups. Principals have lost control when students go behind stairs and have sex between classes and the poorer girls are selling BJ's for $5.00. Public Schools are not a place of a learning, but a place a child in America drags themselves to every day. They hope they survive, the violence, the filth, and the indoctrination.

Why are teachers told to give grades to those on sports teams. Why is the grading system inflated and worthless? Why are academics de-emphasized. Why are answers to standardized test provided to students. Why are standardized test so emphasized and creative thinking such as essay writing devalued. Public schools are participating in the dumbing down of American children.

Curriculum is PC'd out. Curriculum is set in an agency of Globalism sponsored by the World Bank and located in Switzerland, not in the US Department of Education. History has become a lie in the public school system textbooks.

Public Schools are no longer a viable tool that can reliably be used to educate children.

Only the dumbest people in America claim our schools are full of left wing propaganda.

Who would have thought 5 years ago that we would have "Americans" criticizing our teachers and those who strive to be educated? Who would have thought that we would now have "Americans" defending torture and the outing of a CIA agent? What is wrong you people that defend this crap? Don't you ever get embarrassed?

My history book in High School was Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the U.S.". You really don't know how much they've been brain washing you until you're out of there.
