When I was younger I knitted mittens and wove potholders for holiday gift giving? Does anyone do that anymore?

yes we do every year ,,,,,from quilts to sock caps,,,,to wood crafts
other family members and friends always look forward to the gifts we give , they say they are more personal

When I was still able to, I embroidered sheets and pillowcases for our kids and grandkids. I also made quilts and embroidered the top of it. I use to knit hats, scarves and ponchos. I have also embroidered my clothes. Now my fingers are just too arthritic and it hurts too much. I miss that because there is nothing like something that has been made. My hubby has picked up the torch. He does woodcarving and folk art. I am so proud of him. Our one son and daughter in law are artists by profession and are very impressed with his work. So am I!!

Only one or two gifts from last years Christmas were store bought. The rest were all hand made. That someone put there time and effort into doing so..just seemed to make it that much more special.

When I was a youngster, I used to attempt gift making. I was big on sewing place mats, with matching napkins, in my preteens! Now, I'm too busy! You know, what with being on Y!A all day!

Yes, I do,,,and this year I'm thinking of making doggie biscuits for all the dogs in our family..I think there are nine...
.I make caramels for all the nieces and nephews,,turtles for close friends..
Not nearly as much as I used to tho'..but, still try to do some..
