I have found three past inmates living in a small town in Ohio that all tell me this same fact. All three were approved prior to release from prison. Two of the three got total mental disability and the third got partial mental disability. All started receiving checks one month after release. These three men are ages 24, 28 and 32. Is there something wrong with this picture? DUH !!!

Because if they're mentally disabled they'll have great difficulty finding work. No work and no benefits, guess what they'll do? Go back to crime.

"Duh!"

It's a LOT cheaper to pay someone SSD than to pay to house them in prison.

There is a HUGE number of inmates who in fact, are mentally disabled. Prison has become a dumping ground for the mentally ill since many state hospitals closed.
