trust me , i have a huge family and , two of my family members, my aunt and my oldest brother, have a dog each, their always stuck with their dog were ever they go, thers the money issue, theres the freedom issue and theres the time issue, it takes a lot of time to care and raise a dog properly,
my advise, dont get one,
instead, maybe u could babysit other peoples dogs, and see how u like it, a) your getting paid b) you get to see if having a dog is really somthing you want or not
good luck,.

DO NOT buy a dog from a pet store or backyard breeder.
watch this: http://www.stoppuppymills.org/
you should rescue a dog from a shelter. even though you have heard that a pet store dog may be killed if it isn't sold, you are still willing to do business with them? don't give these people your money. as for breeds, a dachshund is my fave for small dogs and you can find them at a local shelter or a breed rescue like this: http://www.drna.org/ or go to pet finder and type in your city or town: http://www.petfinder.com/
my doxie gets along really well with our big dog who is a lab collie mix and he is super cute and very loving. really though, you should visit the dog before you get it so you can see if you get along. sometimes you just click with a dog even if it's not the kind you were looking for.

We have a toy poodle and he is 8 months old. We had two females that lived to be 18 and 19 years old.
You had better get ready for vet bills for shots, flea control and heart worm control. Plus, it should probably be spayed or neutered. Then there is the cost of grooming, unless you can do it yourself.
good dog food is not cheap either. Add in treats and toys. I think a child would almost be cheaper.
The good thing is that dogs love you unconditionally.

You should get a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are so cute, and friendly! What you would need for it would be medium size dog food, a small food and water dish, a small collar, and if you want to buy clothes mostly size medium. To learn more about these dogs just search them up on google. If you want to adopt it go onto petfinder.com It really helps!

If you like an energetic, playful, take to the park kind of dog go with a boston terrier, they are so much fun! Another AWESOME breed is a pug. They are SO cute, and they get excited and playful, but they are total snuggle buddies too. One more super awesome breed is a sheltie. If you feed them properly and keep their fur nice and groomed, they are REALLY pretty and generally calm.

I would really consider a golden retriever. They are the BEST dogs when it comes to temperments. They are kind to all kids and mostly to everyone else. They get along great with other breeds too....especially labs.

Get a teacup anything. They are small and I think it'll convince your parents more because teacup dogs are tiny so they wont have to worry about a big dog.
And they are cute.
