Sorry this is going to be so long but i felt this was a very important topic to disscuss andi want to see peoples thoughts about this and what they feel so just bear with me::
I was just bringing this up cause i was reading about it. Ok, one don't beleive those scientist whom say that! I am saying this because think about every so often when people say the world is going to end you know 1962, 2000, 2001,and 2007 and did the world end? I dont think so! Just because the mayans ended thier calenders at december 21, 2012 doesnt mean they were saying the world is going to end and if they ddi think that dont you think the mayans wouldve wroten it down or something!!!
Yeah, I know I might be over exaggerating but this is a serious topic if you want to believe someone believe nostradamus, he predicted amny thins that had already happened and predicted the world will end in 3000 so dont worry about anything everyone.
So, this is what i beleive and bear with me!

The Mayans had their calender set at 2012 because that is when the center of the milky way lines up with a "gap", if you will, in the sky. The "gap" is an area of sky that has much fewer stars, and the Mayans believed that at this time was when the door to the heavens would open and one could cross over between the two worlds.
It is not surprising that when the world did not end in 2000 the Doom Sayers picked another year. However the fact that so many have chosen to believe that the end of the Mayan calender, from a long dead society mind you, is the chosen date for the end of the world, is absolutely ridiculous to me, especially since there is no known proof that the Mayans actually believed that this was the end of the world, simply when the portal to both worlds would open.

Am thinkin tha world got to end sometime but frist we will slowly die out. Think about the facts (and am rounding)
In 2-3 million years the sun will exploed *based on what they've seen other stars do* And it will kill the frist 4 plants *mars and us *
Then we have Globa warming well thats alread happening and its estamated 40 years before that starts truly killing us off.
Then theres the bees. There died and Albert Einstian says we have 4 years (or 3?) after all the bees are dead before we die to.
Then look at the bible frist we have fammin (when all the bees die there will not be any plant so then livestock die and then us)
Next you have storms and such (Globa Warming will cause extram lows in some place then highs in another)
Finaly theres that whole "the see will bubble and the rock will melt" thing which would be the sun explding and boiling everything in fire.
So I think we got a good million years till the aposlute end. I think the most importen thing to remember is that you have today and you need to make the best of it and try to make tomore better for futer genrations.

Phony balony! As a kid I remember people scaring us that the world was going to end in 1968, forty years ago! Damn. And then, 1975, and 2,000. And nothing happened. So relax, is just a few guys who got nothing to do except scaring the hell out of us by inventing these ridiculous stories.

Some prophecy said there will be an asteriod going to direct hit the earth and cause human extinction. So far, there is no such sign in telescopes on the earth or in space.

About 2012, well, it's not only the mayans who believe that the world is going to end at that time. If you look, you'll find writing in European and Asian's countries had stated the same "fact".
Also, if you believe in your dreams, you too could see it the end of the world. The world is going to end by means of water. Most of the world is going to drown. In current events, there had been many death by tsunami(water). I dont know if you want to believe it or not.

I try to live each day like it's my last. Enjoy your time here and don't worry about future excessively. I think if we keep our own house in order, we will be OK.
