I see little evidence to support the left comment so could someone here point me to a policy position or a speech.

Joe T gave you an accurate definition of the Christian Left and I like he, do not think there is any way that Huckabee fits that mold. From everything I know and have read about him he is closer to being the exact opposite.

Anyone two inches to the left of Attila the Hun is called an 'extremist' by contemporary Republicans. The candidates compete with other to see how far to the right they can go. Novak is not a candidate but he basically works for the party.

Huckabee believes in diplomacy to solve problems. He talks about rebuilding our relationships with our allies. He understands (as lots of us do) that the war on terror is a global war, that we can't fight it by ourselves, we will need the cooperation of allies. I don't generally agree with Huckabee but in this case I find his position very reasonable. Check his webpage and you'll see it.

But as reasonable as this sounds to me, it flies in the face of what has become the mainstream Republican sentiment--truculent unilateralism.

Obama was recently roundly bashed in the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal for promising that as president he would at least try to negotiate with Iran before nuking them. Anyone who even suggests -negotiation- is likened to Neville Chamberlain, called an 'appeaser'. Henry Kissinger even said that the way to negotiate is to bomb first, then negotiate a surrender.

'Liberal' used to be the word Republicans used for anything or anyone they disagreed with. Now they've worn the word out so it's 'leftist' or 'socialist'. During primary campaigns they call -each other- leftists.

"The Christian Left holds that social justice, renunciation of power, humility, forgiveness, and private observation of prayer (as opposed to publicly mandated prayer) are mandated by the Gospel text" (wikipedia)

I don't see where a Christo-fascist like Huckabee fits in here.

Maybe he meant "the Iranian Left"?
