I am a teenager, just starting on quilting, and looking for some easy but good-looking patterns, preferably without triangles! The pieces cannot be too large because I have a large selection of fabric but about 1/8 yd. of each. Is there a free pattern online that I can use?

How about a rag quilt?? They are fun and easy peesy lemon squeezy!!! You don't have to be a perfect seamstress or make perfect seams for a rag quilt - so it's perfect for a beginner.

This one could easily be a scrap quilt - or crazy quilt - make each square a different fabric!!

Good luck and have fun.

I had a pattern for a brick quilt. you cut a whole bunch of rectangles 61/2 by 101/2 inches. then sew the short ends together and make a long strip. (amount depends on how long you want the quilt). make several long strips. Then sew the long strips together, but do not match seams, it looks better if offset.
when done looks like

l______l____l_____l____l____l____l_____l

so this is straight line sewing. so long as the width is the same you can use different lengths. use your own dimensions and have fun. you can tie the three layers together with yarn or ribbon when you get the top done.
