In Tampa, over in west shore, there are like 10 hotels within a 4 block radius. its only about a $10 cab ride to Ybor city, and a lot of them have buses that run to clearwater beaches, or the pier at st. pete.

I'd say the Sheraton in Clearwater OR the round Holiday Inn. It's sooo neat. It doesn't even look like a holiday inn. There's a lounge on top called spinners and it slowly spins and you can see over the ocean. I actually stayed at a red roof inn right on st. pete beach and it was really nice and it was only $140/night. The other one we stayed at was the Sirata on St. Pete beach which is also a decent price. I'd highly recommend looking up the red roof inn. Do yourself a favor while you're here. this is just a sidebar. right near the beach down the road there's an italian ice place called ritas. If you go and get some slushy declicious italian ice, you'll thank me up and down. My fave is the chocolate gelato. mmmmmm just had to throw that in
