Well breaking news in Tampa:
http://blogs.tampabay.com/breakingnews/2007/11/tampa-bay-light.html
"The Tampa Bay Lightning has terminated a deal to sell the hockey team to business partners Oren Koules, Jeff Sherrin and Doug MacLean.

The team canceled the agreement November 14 when Koules, a Hollywood producer, failed to come up with his $4.16-million share of the purchase price, according to a lawsuit filed Monday.

Lightning officials said negotiations are continuing to try to salvage the sale."

Wow. Looks like Koules (producer of the Saw movies) didn't pay up. Think managment will still look to sell the team.

copas - If only I had a billion dollars. That would be killer to own your favorite hockey team. Could you imagine a 14 year old owner of the Lightning?

Who knows, maybe I can ask for a billion dollars for Christmas....

The story I'm getting is that the others have gotten cold feet and have withheld monies for whatever reason and the majority of the funding is being placed on Koules' shoulders.

I thought it insane for the guy to go for majority ownership given his lacking overall wealth (relative to other billionaire owners), but he must really want this.

Looks like "Saw 12" will get green lighted. LOL

That's interesting.

Doug MacLean is going around the offices in Tampa as if he is already owner.

The second thing.................You're telling me there is a lwasuit because somebody can't come up with 2% of the sale price? get Vinny to pay the $4.16MM

I'm with Bob here. That sucks for Doug if the deal has really fallen through.
