First of all, your comments as you've typed them here are not offensive.

Now, to the real issue. You want to know why you're getting bad grades. I teach Junior High School, so very little surprises me. Here is the short list of possible reasons you have gotten bad grades:

1) Your teacher is racist.
2) You have not understood very important parts of the grading. Some teachers have specific marking guidelines and if you miss those important elements, your mark immediately suffers.
3) You have not turned in vital parts of the work. Many of these assignments are a collection of different pieces of rough work. If you have missed enough of these, you may not get a passing grade.
4) Your teacher may not have a good working relationship with you personally. It may not be a race issue, but that teacher just may not like you. Personally.
5) You may have crafted a very lovely essay that completely fails to answer the question presented. Make sure you understood the task.

If you want to get to the heart of the issue very quickly, find a moment at the end of class or at the end of the day to approach the teacher. Don't do it in the company of a gang of friends. Sit down with a copy of the essay and ask the teacher very politely if now would be a good time to discuss where you went wrong and thus earned a zero. If the teacher tells you "not now", arrange a time that would be appropriate. If the teacher won't answer you or won't arrange a meeting, then you may need to bring your essay to the administration or department head. If your teacher will discuss it, then hey! You will find out what the problem is.

if you cannot solve this dispute with the teacher then look on your syabllus for a student service name that you need to see if the disagreement between student and teacher is not resolved. if that does not work then proceed to the student dean.

eventually you will find someone who can help you.

that seems so odd that a teacher would give you a 0/30. you did an essay that should be at least partical credit. if no answer from the teacher see student service advisor or couselor and then proceed to the dean if all else fails.

good luck

p.s. since its a college professor, YOU are PAYING THEM to teach YOU. you have an upper hand. use it.

No teacher in the world will show the hatred due to racism towards their student. Try to understand this at first. Because when coming into the teaching field, their main goal is to develop and bring up the student in a better way and to show them the brightest path. So it might be a mistake, or it would be better if u could talk to ur teacher personally regarding this.

You should try to see if anything is wrong with your essay, if you've accidentally went off topic or something. If not, I think you might want to confide in either your parents or try asking some white friends around. If they've gotten bad grades as well, talk to the teacher.

Racism might turn out to be the problem, but I definitely hope not.

Good luck!

It sounds a little aggressive. Perhaps next time you could actually speak to her rather than send an email and ask in a calm way, why, after all the work you have done, are you getting bad grades? Could she please talk you through where you are going wrong and make suggestions on how to improve for next time.
It may well be that you are not fully understanding of what is being asked of you.

No, it's not too mean, but the fact that she's black and you are white should have nothing to do with it. If you talk to her in person , then hopefully she would be understanding and work with you. Most people aren't out to get others, so don't worry.

unless you threw in an extra slur somwhere in there, then why would it be racist. the problem with your grade, and i will guarantee this, as absolutely NOTHING to do with race. the email wasnt mean or vindictive or meant to slur, so its probably that she didnt feel you completed the assignment to her standards or specifications. go over the assignment with her and you'll probably agree. btw, are you sure you wrote an essay and not a report? thats happened to me a few times and i got a letter grade knocked off for not following instructions.

It's not mean, but don't expect her to respond well to it. If you really think your grades are unfair, bring in your papers (possibly with your parents), and have your teacher go over with you exactly what the problem(s) is. You may each find that you made a mistake in some ways. Good luck.
