I'm wondering:
-Are either company capable of putting on a five-star match?
(For those that don't know, a five-star match is a match that is rated a "must watch" by wrestling analyst and writer Dave Meltzer, also editor of Wrestling Observer Newsletter)
-No match in WWE received this rating since 1997.
-Only one match in TNA has received the Five-Star rating in 2005.
If so, take one company and create one. It doesn't have to be a singles match, and it doesn't have to be at Bound For Glory or WrestleMania.
PS- I can't believe I'm a Top Contributor now; there' other users that should get it before me.

I am not giving "thumbs down" to anyone (unless they are spamming), so I would appreciate it if no one else did.

Yes they can.
It would more than likely involve mat technicians and be close to an hour in length. To be honest, it would probably be an inter-promotional tag-team match.
Kurt Angle and Sumo Joe would take on Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas.
Now hear me out before you disregard this as B.S.
Both Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart brought key elements to their famous "Iron Man" match at Wrestlemania 12, although Michaels grounded his high-flying repitora to adopt a more-technical match.
Now, many American fans anymore don't understand that the key to a great match is not how easily Stone Cold Steve Austin can whip half a dozen jobbers in ten minutes or how Hulk Hogan can take a twenty-minute beating them miraculously come back, deliver five or six punches, a big boot or a body slam and the leg drop for the win.
The key is to have it go back and forth with ACTUAL wrestling moves, to prove the legitimate skill of the wrestlers (John Cena listen up, bud) and remain fluid and un-stagnant.
Kurt Angle has proven that he is stellar, and Sumo Joe is damn close to phenomenal himself. Also, both Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas know Kurt Angle and were very successful collegiate wrestlers, implying that basic wrestling maneuvers and the flow of a match are something they are very proficient at.
Both are excellent as a tag team but (because of obvious laws of physics regarding heel tag teams and *********) job more than their fair share.
Put these two teams in an iron-man tag team match, and you've got one for the ages.
All four men are skilled, all four men are healthy and very athletic, and all four know their game like the back of their hand.
I know, many would say HHH vs. Cena vs. Orton vs. Batista, but that would lead to a very ...um... 'tainted' victory (due to the big three vs. Cena being the entire match).
Also, others like Undertaker and Kane just aren't capable of having a match like that anymore due to either age or the lack of fire under their behinds that the new guys have...not that any of the new guys on either brand are worth a crap, because, anymore, they aren't.
Ten years ago, Sting vs. HHH would have had the possibility of reaching this level, but not anymore, as both are no longer ascending but just fighting to keep what they've got.
That's my take on it.

TNA can but five star matches are hard to come buy in the states. Those three who had a five star match are still with TNA. Plus other talents like Angle, Kazarian, Sabin could possibly give a five star match if not four. WWE though it would have to be a gimmick match like a ladder or Hell in a Cell. HBK is the only guy who could deliver a five star match. Punk won't be given enough time to and other guys won't either.

It would be very difficult for either to put on a five star match. the best chance would be:
WWE: HBK vs. Taker hell in a cell w/special guest referee Chris Jericho
TNA: Kurt Angle vs. AJ styles (after styles is established as a main eventer) in a 60-minute iron man match, submissions only.
btw, you are a great user and deserve the top contributor label.
Edit: lol by answering this question i just found out that i got the top contributor thing too, i prob dont deserve it but hey ill take it.

You are so true...
WWE and TNA matches are nowhere near to the matches that WWF and NJPW/AJPW(japanese) used to put up.Wrestling became now more entertainment - storylines from entertainment - matches like it used to be...
I doubt if we will see ever again WRESTLING matches like Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair,HBK vs Bret Hart iron man and many more matches which were close or got 5 stars...
How many matches of Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi recieved 5 stars??Most of them..
The writers are not willing to put up pure wrestling matches anymore because most of the people out there believe that wrestling = storylines. And since they want them to bring ratings aka money, they put them what they want..
Another thing that makes me doubt if we are going to see 5 star matches in near future is that the wrestlers are not trained hard anymore like they used to.They are training more for their backstage promos or how to become muscular than how to learn new techniques and improve their in ring ability...
We have many wrestlers that they are powerfull but they can't use the power right since they are much untechnical...
That's why it will be difficult to find 5 star matches in the near future...
btw...you are one of the best users around here and at least in the top 10 of the most knowledgeable.Trust me,i know what i'm talking about. You deserved that budge because you are 1) regular,2)knowledgeable,3)respectfull,4) a great all around user...
It seems like yahoo gave budges today..i noticed some more guyz have their own budge. It is not something special, but some users that do not know you much..pay a little bit more attention to you.
Good Job DT and awesome wrestling question..

*edit*:I noticed clearely now that Yahoo gave lots of deserved budges..but they took back some unfortunately..Anyways good job...!!

I think both are, if they start using the right guys. The best match I ever saw in TNA was Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles. I gave that ***** in a review once. It's been a while that i've seen a ***** match in WWE though. I've seen more in indy feds like ROH than either of the mainstream promotions.

Yes, they have the talent but they just don't care about having 5 star matches. TNA has the talent but their matches are so overbooked that it take aways the quality of the match itself. WWE also has the talent but they banned so much moves and watered-down their wrestling so bad. Both companies have the talent, but they just care about drama and non-wrestling segments. All they care about now is RATINGS.
TNA (so much possibilities!) - Samoa Joe vs. A.J. Styles,
Motor City Machine Guns vs. LAX, Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe(they both have the abilities to pull it off, they just can't have all those run-ins and interferences).
WWE - CM Punk vs. Shawn Michaels.
