Yes we do and I think it is better,as the kids can go to him if they are being bullied and picked on.It also keeps the level of drugs down.

No we don't have Police based at Secondary Schools in New Zealand. We actually have a shortage of Police In N.Z. at the moment. We have even been recruiting Police[qualified] from the U.K. for the last 3 years. We even pay all their shifting costs & air fares for the whole family.
A lot come here for the better weather & lifestyle.
Back to the point, we have a lot of youth crime, it's increasing too much. Do Police at the school help stop this, where you are?
By the way Heather, I live in Dunedin, N.Z. The Edinburgh of the South. Settled by Scots back in the 1800's.

Our local Police Inspector asked our opinion at a local community council meeting on his idea to resite the village Police station within the (primary) school grounds. We are quite happy with the siting of our present Police Station less than 400 yards away so he was sent away to think again.

There was becoming a huge drug and gang problem at the school. Now virtually nothing. Since the officer was introduced attendance, and results have gone up and the school now has a waiting list.

We have police officers stationed at each of our schools. I think it's a shame that we've come to need security officers in a place that once was safer than many homes.

I wouldn't have it. The same police that are racially abusing kids on the street are now in school. I'd give 'em HELL!
