Generally speaking, how much money do sports writers usually make. I know it varies, but, again, average-wise?

Depends. Varies of their skill, the size of the market they're working for, and the population that receives/reads the newspaper.

They don't get near as much as the clowns they write about,but deserve more probably!

Less than they think they are worth and a lot more than I think they are worth.
