Ozone depletion allows larger amounts of ultraviolet radiation to reach the Earth's surface. There is an ozone hole over Antarctica, and ozone depletion is more pronounced closest to this hole. All life on Earth has adapted to the particular, limited amounts of ultraviolet radiation the planet receives, so an increase in radiation affects all life forms.
