I usually say yeah..... even when I'm not. An acquaintance doesn't want to hear sob stories or bad news. But my good friends can always tell when somethings up. So it works. I really really like your response though. It's funny.

I answer that I am fine, and that nothing is wrong with me. On the other hand, if the same person asks me repeatedly, over and over again, then it will start getting on my nerves, and I start getting waspish, and snappish at them

If I am OK, they'll get something like "Beautiful, and how's your day going?"
If not, it's usually something along the lines of "Hangin' in there," or (if it's at work) "I'm here, that's half the battle."
