let me make it clear. I AM NOT A RACIST. i am an immigrant from Nigeria i speak a different language too(well, a little) and i belive in every single thing America stands for. But i sorta think there should be a limit to diversity.
They have also opposed building a boarder fence because it "Disrupts the ecosystem of the of the wild animals that live in the desert", and thats where this story come
(You have to read this to understand what I am saying. This article came out today)

recently, thanks to the ACLU, there have been sparks of racism. look at this. Last month, the Salvation army fired some undocumented mexicans workers because they couldnt speak english, therefore cant really help. HOWEVER guess who came to the rescue?? oh yes, the ACLU. despite the fact that the founder Roger Baldwin of the ACLU was a communist and founded the union based on soviet-like agendas. i think its only a matter of time before Americans gets over dependent on the ACLU to tell them when their rights are violated, then the communism inspired organization whips out its own agenda.
in a democrat debate a few months ago, the democrats all said that they support America becoming a Bi-lingual nation. if america stands for equality, then what about the arabic, african, dutch, chinese immigrants that have to learn english to survive here in America?

Good point, if America were to mandate a second language it would have to be Esperanto, which was constructed for the purpose of unification rather than being a true natural language.
My problem with the second language concept is it is horribly biased toward Mexico, there are those that believe we should open the border(unregulated), start speaking Spanish, and fly Mexican and American flags together. Is it their intention to invade or immigrate?

In America our diversity is our strength. We are a nation made up of immigrants from -everywhere-. Generally these were people who pulled up stakes and moved here because they wanted something better from life than they could get in their own homes, and they were willing to endure much deprivation and hardship to better themselves. Immigrants today are no different.

The issue of illegal immigration, as discussed by the presidential candidates, is a phony one. I don't mean it's not a real issue, just the way they talk about it. It's a 'hot button' issue, one that they feel can get people all excited and angry. They propose solutions that sound good but that they know won't work, like the border fence. They talk about the issue in simplistic terms and 7-second sound bites, even though they know it's more complicated than that. And as a threat to our way of life, illegal immigration ranks way down about 20th place. More important issues--the war, the debt, the constitutional crisis, health care, the shrinking dollar, etc. etc. are harder to talk about. They require hard decisions, self-discipline on our part. So they don't talk about those, they talk about illegal immigration.

I don't care if the ACLU was founded by a communist or a nazi, it is a very important organization, more important today than ever before. They protect -everyone's- rights, no matter their party or politics. They have worked for the KKK and Oliver North, protecting the constitutional rights and freedoms that we all hold dear--or say we do.

I also think multilingualism is important. People who don't speak English are at a distinct disadvantage in the US today. We don't need to -punish- them, not speaking English is punishment enough. Their kids, born in America, speak English like natives. 75% of kids born of Hispanic immigrant parents speak no Spanish at all! People above a certain age are not nearly as able to learn a new language. So why be a Nazi about it? What do -you- care if Spanish-speaking Americans have their own radio and TV stations and their own movies? If they are citizens, they also have the right to vote.

I'm a Christian: I speak English, Italian, French, German, Russian, Czech and Spanish. I am working on more all the time. I have found the quickest and easiest way to learn a language is by residing in the country the language is spoken and immersing myself in their culture. I'm just wondering what the correlation is between being multi-lingual and spiritually minded???

It's clear that you are not a racist, and are asking a very articulate question.

I think that people are getting VERY sick of the ACLU and other groups similar to it. I don't know the name of the group that was trying to attack Rumsfeld, but all the lawyers were registered commies. Americans love their freedom, and I don't think if push comes to shove, they'll give it up.

On the other hand, sometimes I wonder.

There is title in an amendment to the constitution that always employers to restrict employees on what language is to be spoken with the exception of dealing with customers. I used to have it posted in the break room of the restaurant I managed several years ago. But for the life of me I can't remember the the title code.

Any individual that wants to enter the Unioted States can and should be required to learn the language first and foremost. This would decrease the lack of communication. Go to Germany and see how well you communicate without learning the language.

It's a practical reality that you should learn English if you want to survive in America, unless you live in Greater Miami, FL. Then you must learn Spanish to survive.

With out other languages, foreign relations are impossible ?

Even US Military has a foreign language institution in Monterey California, teaching foreign languages to military personnel.

Best Regards.

Posts that begin with a declaration regarding racism are typically racist posts.

How does it make you feel when you hear U.S. citizens making statements about foreigners and how they should all return to their own countries?

When the rights and privileges of one human being are violated, we are all violated.
