How do I turn off the firewall?

I clicked on control panel and internet opptions and security tab and it doesn't say firewall anywhere on this computer. There isn't a security panel on here either. Please help??

Turning off the firewall is not a good idea, it's better to allow the program you need pass the firewall as an exception....but here are the directions if you still want to turn it off:

1.Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
2.On the General tab, click Off (not recommended), and then click OK.

There are literally dozens and dozens of different firewalls. Without you specifying just what brand of firewall that you use, any answer would just be guesswork.

But you should NEVER disable a firewall in order to make a game, a web cam or some program work, it is a major no-no. Your computer can be attacked or infected with worms and viruses in minutes!

Learn how to properly configure your firewall, but never disable it, even for a minute. A firewall is there for a very good reason: to protect you from hackers!

Firewall is your friend, it is not your enemy!

Do NOT turn off your firewall.

Whatever the reason is that you are wanting to turn it off.. trust me, there is another... better... solution to your problem.

You can access the firewall as the previous user described if you are using windows firewall. If you are using a firewall as part of a security suite then you can access it via that programs preferences.

If you are trying to allow a program to access the internet then the proper way is to add that program to the allowed applications list and provide it with access.

You need that firewall to help prevent anybody from hacking into your computer. It also helps block other junk getting onto your PC. If you didn't have it you would get bombarded and your anti virus software would probably get overwhelmed.
