Since MalcolmX eventually abandoned this philosopy, I'd go with Rev. King's; I would, however, remember I only have ONE left cheek.
~a
"I realized racism isn't just a black and white problem. It's brought bloodbaths to about every nation on earth at one time or another. Brother, remember the time that white college girl came into the restaurant — the one who wanted to help the Muslims and the whites get together — and I told her there wasn't a ghost of a chance and she went away crying? Well, I've lived to regret that incident. In many parts of the African continent I saw white students helping black people. Something like this kills a lot of argument. I did many things as a [black] Muslim that I'm sorry for now. I was a zombie then — like all [black] Muslims — I was hypnotized, pointed in a certain direction and told to march. Well, I guess a man's entitled to make a fool of himself if he's ready to pay the cost. It cost me 12 years. That was a bad scene, brother. The sickness and madness of those days — I'm glad to be free of them."

Its very hard to just turn the left cheek, so I'm going to go with Malcolm X, By any means necessary. Because this is an competitive world out here and you have to do any means necessary to do what you have to do!

I think John Oliver's answer is the best so far. Another difference between MLK, jr. and MX was that MLK always believed in integration of the races. MX, particulary before leaving Elijah Muhammed, believed in separation of the races. It's also important to remember that both were assassinated.

Martin Luther King got his idea from the way India got independence from Great Britain. Ghandi's idea of peaceful demonstrations worked because they were united. Of course afterward there was civil war between the Hindus & Muslims but Ghandis idea did get results.

"An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth and the whole world would soon be blind and toothless."
EDIT:
yea i agree with some of yall to an extent with the
"you can only turn your cheek so many times"
but i also believe in karma
what goes around comes around!!
so hell juss say **** em
if you live ur life trying to figure out
how to get back at that person
your life gets so caught up in it
&& you'll juss end up having this negative energy around you
have you ever been around somebody who has a really bad
energy that you juss dont even wanna be around them && you dont know why...yea dont end up like that person

I will have to say it depends on my situation. We probably all want to say turn the left cheek but how many of us would actually follow that if someone hurt someone close to us.

Martin Luther King Jr. I can't stand Malcom X! He was a racist fighting against racism. How is that supposed to work? Fighting fire against fire only makes the flames bigger.
