I don't have Verizon but Qwest. However, when hooking up my DSL, I ran into simular problems. I was completely unable to install the connection with the disk, so I ended up phoning the technical department and one of the technicians talked me through a manual setup. Each of these companys have a manual method of doing this, but you need a password and user name and to know what type of connection it is, mine is a PPPoA. Without this information there isn't any way to set it up manually.

I completely agree with the cra* on these DSL disks. I am so freaken sick of these companies putting stuff we didn't request of purchase onto computers of unsuspecting consumers. It was bad enough with preinstalled OSs, but now our own ISPs are doing this too! What a load of......

Anyway, after you calm down, phone Verizon's technical department, and just tell them the disk is not working, you are sick of trying to make it work, and you want them to walk you through a manual setup in the browser configuration pages.

Don't blast them with the malware the disk tries to load as it isn't their job and it isn't their fault, and they might want you to try and use the disk again anyway. So, just tell them you are fed up with trying the disk, that it hangs at a certain spot and will not contue. If they want to know when it hangs, telll them it hangs at the point where it searches for the modem. That is where mine hung repeatedly. That should do the trick.

Good luck and I hope you have a very nice holiday season.
