Sara B had an interesting take but the ending was weak. To those of you with the knee jerk, "that's not true, pig!" Sell stupid somewhere else. It was a study released this past week and I was curious as to why. Answer one seems the most correct. I have never met an attractive, skinny woman in my life. At least from her point of view.

They might be afraid a more attractive man will cheat, or perhaps a woman will not have high self esteem.

To marry a man that is typically not attractive as they are you look at the inside not at the out side and move on.

I dated a guy who was verrry attractive (like could've been a model) and I felt jealous to be with him. Like when we went out, I could spend an hour on my make-up and hair, but he would still get all the stares, from both women and men. I felt like "what am I, bat guano?" I was used to being the pretty one and getting the attention. ALSO I would ask him all the time, why are you with me? I kept looking for an ulterior motive. Because I could not believe someone as hot as him would really want to be with me. Or, I would think he would eventually cheat on me, being so fine and having to swat off the girls all the time. As they say men are only as faithful as their options...

I am married to one who is less attractive, but for me I look beyond the physical appearance. Besides, why would I want to be with a man who is more attractive than me!

actually I've noticed quite a few men that are extremely attractive that married a woman that's pretty plain, so it seems to go both ways. maybe people do go for more than the outer appearance...lol

I never have known that to be typical....My hubby is very attractive...7 years younger than myself...and I am not all washed up either!

I can only speak for myself, but I am not shallow. I married my husband because I love his heart and who he is inside. Most people find him below average in looks, however, to me he is the most handsome man alive. :)
