Variable help?? Please?

Question

I have two problems that i dont get so can someone tell me what i did wrong? heres my work

7x + 30 = -12x + 30

then

19x + 30 = 30

then

19x = 0

then i dived 19 by zero and got 19...


and for my other problem

8x - 3 = 8x + 13

then

8x= 8x + 16

then

i got 16x= 0


















what am i doing wrong?? PLEASE help ASAP

for the first one you did almost all of it correct, but 0/19 is 0
so your x should equal 0

for the second one the x's cancel out so htere is no solution for this problem

you have 2 trick problems

for the first one,
19x=0
you have to divide both sides by 19. and zero divided by anything is zero, so the answer is x=0
and just btw, what you did was to divide 19 by zero. that answer would come out to be undefined, not 19. you cant divide by 0 and get a real number. answer is always undefined.

for the second one, the x's would cancel out (an 8 minus 8), so there is no solution
you can't just add the 8's

your should dived 0 by 19 (not 19 by 0) and so you get X=0 which is a vertical line if your graphing

8x - 3 = 8x + 13

you subtract not add 8.

for the first one the answer is 0 because 19 divided by 0 equals 0 (really because anything multiplied or divided by 0 equals 0)

for the second one, you just have to finish the problem-
16x=0
just divide 16 by 0 and get 0 as the answer just like before
