Yes I do. I don't give money to organizations that discriminate. Don't take that to mean I don't donate ever... I just choose better organizations to give money to.

Why would you avoid eye contact? The Salvation Army is a great organization! If you go out of your way to avoid them then you are an unfeeling snob. They are there to help the people that are not fortunate enough to be able to provide for themselves. If you are broke, give them a penny...if you have change in your pocket, give them your spare change. You never know, some day you may need their help. How would you feel if you need a warm place to stay this winter and you saw someone with several Christmas packages in their arms and they went out of their way to avoid the one person that could help you? Not so much in keeping with the holiday tradition of "goodwill to all men (mankind)" is it now?

Even though I'm a shy person, I still try to smile, look at the person and say "Thank You" because they're standing in the cold, collected money for those who really need a helping hand. They're better humanitarians than me, because I've never stood outside in the freezing cold for such a noble cause.
But I also try to say hi to anyone I meet. Guess how many say hello back?

I smile at them... they don't care whether or not you give money... They get paid hourly and receive ZERO of the donations - So make eye contact, say hello, give them your spare change even if it's a dime, they dont' care

Sometimes, especially after I've put money in about three or four kettles at different locations. I feel so guilty if I don't put money in every kettle.
*but I do smile their way
