Each of the first three games is completely stand-alone. You can only access the content of a game that you actually own and have linked to your account.

That means you can buy Nightfall and play Nightfall, but can not play Prophecies or Factions unless you buy them too. However the three games have 6 classes in common, and many skills, but seperate stories.

Eyes of the North is an expansion pack, and requires at least one other game to play.

Nightfall and Factions are stand-alone expansions. They can be played on their own, and are a full game in that respect. But you'll miss out on some things, like certain skills for each of the Core Classes. They can also be tied to the same account as the original GW, giving you access to all content.

Eye To the North, from what I understand, is just an expansion, and you need to have the original GW in order to play it.

the unique Guild Wars (now referred to as Guild Wars Prophesies), Factions, and Nightfal are all standalone expansions. you may connect distinctive ones of them to the comparable account to permit a unmarried character come across greater suitable than one in all them, or you need to purchase every person of them and play it through itself. Eye to the North is a organic advance. you like one in all the different 3 to play it (a minimum of partly by using fact it replaced into designed for optimum-point characters from the 1st undertaking).
