I have a couple biology questions, it involves plants. Could anyone help me?

a.)True, maple trees are tapped in the spring because the sap begins to flow and the starch that was stored in the roots all winter changes back into sugar
b.)False, maple trees are not tapped in the spring because after the winter there is not enough sap to bother extracting. It must build up through the spring and summer.
c.)False, maple trees are tapped in the fall to ensure that the tree has enough energy stored to make it through the winter.

2. Potato beetles do not eat the tubers of the plant which man uses; they feed only on the leaves. Why take the trouble to poison the beetles then?
a.)Because beetle dung causes the potatoes to have a bitter flavor
b.)Because if the leaves are destroyed no photosynthesis takes place and the plant has no extra food to be stored as a potato
c.)Because the beetles burrow into the potatoes to lay their eggs

#1 A They are tapped in the spring. Flow begins after the hard freezes are done when there has been several sunny days in the 40's.

#2 B It is the juveniles that cause the damage feeding on leaves especially near peak flowering time. If they appear around harvest time they are late to damage the tuber growth.

B, as the tree needs to make the starch to store and amke into sugar. During the winter it will be using up all the starc it has to keep alive. The sap will be most plentiful in the fall

B If there are no leaves then the plant cant survive. The more leaves the more stuff is stored by the pant in teh tubers.
