Yes, as a matter of fact I did today at WalMart.

I try to give at least a dollar bill every time I pass a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. But if all I have is change, that's what I give. So by the end of the season, I've probably donated at least $20 by Christmas. Not a huge sum, but about what I donate to the American Cancer Society or Heart Association every time I get an envelope in the mail.

I do give money to the Salvation Army bell ringers sometimes on the streets. The Salvation's aims and goals are helping the homeless to have a temporay shelter and hot meals. It's a good deed for any normal human and willing to spare a few bucks or cents for the needies.

There is an ancient stooped salvation army person who collects money and the local RSL on a Friday night in exchange for a copy of the War Cry - who could resist giving him money?

No, because 90% of the funds they use for actual charity work (and I hear it's of poor quality and usefulness to the homeless) come from the U.S. Government. Private donations go towards building and maintaining their churches, and for lobbying in favor of religious descrimination so they can fire gay employees and proselytize to those they're supposed to be helping.
My charitable giving can go to other organizations who help without discriminating & proselytizing, and mixing church and state. Oxfam is a great group.
See my link below to read the article where I learned this, at Irregular Times. ;) Or just research the matter before giving.

I used to until I volunteered with them for the Katrina effort. People donated lots of great stuff to families like TVs, games, toys, electronics, appliances, etc. So many employees took the good stuff for themselves and sent the rest to the needy families. I don't give them a dime now.

Sure do, as well as practically anyone I see asking. The way I look at it, those couple dollars were just going to be used for nothing more then a couple of 16 oz. Diet Pepsi's or a beer.

Yes, whenever I have extra change I do. I also donate money to St. Judes whenever the sweet old lady at CVS asks me if I will. Hmm, and I buy product (RED) items. I guess I am a sucker for stuff like that.

I do... every chance I get.
Don't worry about the thumbs down. It has nothing to do with your question being good or bad. Somebody is just bored tonight.

Always. It's like a nervous tick; whenever I hear that bell ringing, I can't help but put all of my change in the little red kettle.
In fact, that happened today. And I really wanted to buy a can of soda too. Oh well...
