I live in upstate New York where it is below freezing from December until April. What are you recommendations for winter coats? I have an ems jacket, but it is WAYYY not warm enough. I've heard columbia and northface and others...any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Columbia makes some of the best winter jackets, but I would avoid their ski jackets because they are too lightly insulated. If you choose Columbia look for one of their more heavily insulated parka style coats. If you select North Face, I'd recommend a down jacket. Their Nuptse jacket is a popular best seller! This jacket is priced at around $200 depending on the retailer and the jacket comes in a variety of different colors.

My own recommendation would be Choko, they make snowmobile apparel. I have a Choko jacket and it doesn't disappoint, it's heavily insulated and fleece lined. It keeps me warm from the Michigan weather even with just a t-shirt underneath. You'll also get your moneys worth, for less than a North Face Nuptse Jacket you can purchase a Choko jacket as a set with snow bib pants for as low as $130. They also have two other styles for $155 and $200.

Here are the links to the Choko outfits and the North Face Nuptse jacket. You should also browse through the rest of North Face's lineup to see if there are any other jackets of interest, only bad part about the North Face are the high prices!

I would suggest fxr. All I wear when I ride my snowmobile is a long sleeved t-shirt, and an fxr parka style jacket (with the liner removed) and I have yet to have an issue getting cold.
