As each program is designed there is always a better version available a short time after one is made.

this happens because, the newer version is faster and more up to date with computers... and is by all means short of viruses!

Your best off to get used to windows live messengers.. cause it is the best out there.. and if your upset with it try the add on to it.. download msn plus.. it allows you to color code things and put music to your contacts and everything! its awesome!

Good Luck

plus you could just ignore it... but you might end up with a slower computer

So install Messenger 6 or 7.5 or whatever. Go to the folder where messenger was installed default is :\Program Files\MSN Messenger Right click on the messenger executable file, mine is called msnmsgr.exe, select Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab then select in the Compatibility Mode box that you want to run the program in Windows 2000 mode. Make sure that the check box above the pull down menu is checked. Click apply, then OK and you should be good to go.

hi
microsoft wants the users to upgrade cause of th security bugs existing in the msn 7x versions..or previous
you can use a trick to go on using 7x ..but be careful and don`t use the cam with unknown contacts.. (cause of that bug)
first close MSn at all
then
go to
C:/
program files
MSN messenger
properties
compatibility
mark 'compatibility with windows 2000'

then sign in MSN

I hope it helps you

Not that I have seen. I had 7.5 (higher then yours) and it did the same thing. They want you to use Live, as it's the "newer better!" program. For awhile they let you choose and now it's becoming mandatory.
