Does anyone know if there is a place in orange county, ca that sells concrete footers for posts? Home Depot has some 12" peir blocks, but I was looking for something to go deeper, around 24".

you can use the Home Depot footers, just dig a deeper hole and place more concrete., Wider is better than deeper in OC, not much frost problem there. Maybe go two feet wide, two feet deep and place the pier onto that.

I would check with your local wind storm/insurance board for building codes. Most codes will not let you use concrete footers if you ar building a structure such as a deck. As far as going to all of the trouble of the cast tube that's a bit much. All you really need to do is dig a standard post hole 6" - 8" in dia. and 24" deep. Fill the hole using do-it-yourself concrete mix (1 1/2 80lb bags will do one hole.) Before the concrete sets install a 1/2" J-bolt. After concrete sets you can mount a fabricated post anchor.

Good Luck

It`s usually called digging a hole , use a construction tube and a product called post set. Make the hole, put in the tube, put in the post, fill with water, add post mix making sure the post is level . Move on to next post. Most posts go at least 48" deep
