Joanie, I feel sorry for you and the millions of other people who these nuts bully with their notions of Armageddon.
I have survived 6 widely publicized ends of the world in my lifetime. This stuff is nonsense. The Mayans made no such prediction. The sun doesn't line up with the galactic center any closer that year than it does in any other year.
Please realize that there are a lot of adults, some of them who seem very smart and serious, who are utterly out of their gourds. Don't buy into this stuff, dear. You will be fine, and so will your loved ones.
Damn these bullies!
Edit: Hey, congratulations! At least you have more answers than I have ever seen to one question on this board.

You sound so scared hun.
Despite what any newspaper, website or person says, nobody on this earth can say that the world will definitely end on a certain date. We truly do not know. There are lots of predictions yes, but who could say any of them are true? One is just as valid as the next.
The thing is this, suppose we say that, just for argument's sake, the world will end on 12.21.12. Next week you step out into the road and get knocked down and killed. You will have been worrying over absolutely nothing, it had no relevance to you, and you have missed out on so much and not lived your life to the full.
We really do not know what is around the corner. But rather than let that consume us with fear, let it be the driving force behind you - make a list of things you want to do before you are 20, 30 and so on. Get out there and do some travelling, see the world, take up new hobbies, go meet new people and have fun! It will take your mind off worrying about things that cannot be changed, and may not even be relevant to you (it's equally possible that the world will not end for many millenia after your lifetime).
You may also find it helpful to investigate religion - many people find it comforting to apply a religious framework to their life, it is a way of explaining who we are and where are going.
Try to keep yourself busy, and limit how much time you spend thinking about endings. Get out there and enjoy yourself, so you can look back when you're old and think about what a great life you had!
Smile! :)

What you are worried about is a prediction made by a mayan elder thousands of years ago. It was based on a mesoamerican long count counter that was able to be interpreted by elders to predict events so precisely... there were records of things like assasination of kings, and wars like WWII. It is assumed that the world will end on December 20th, 2012 (notice the numbers... 12/20, 2012 they are backwards exactly) because that is when the calendear ends. It has also been noted that astronomically, the earth will be in direct lineation with the milky way, an event that no one alive has ever seen. Although I honestly hold my doubts that the world will end... our region of the galaxy will prob. experience some astronomical phenomenon because of this rare occurence. What this is, I have not even the slightest clue. Here are some websites if you want to learn more. There is also a great Discovery TV special you can watch. Keep your hopes up, we may survive yet. ;)

THAT'S BULLCRAP.
Seriously! They said that about New Year's Day
in 2000. Remember that? Everyone was saying
"THE END IS NEAR! THE MILLENIUM POSES
THE END OF THE WORLD!" and people were flipping
out and guess what happened seven years later? Nothing.
All those freaks who say that are just a bunch
of crazies and should be put in an insane asylum!
Like the first guy who commented on this. I went
to the website listed just out of curiosity, and people
have stooped to a new low. These people are absolute
LOONEY.
Don't worry.
12/21/12 has absolutely NO signifigance!
And everyone has to die someday.
Hopefully you practice a religion, and have something
to look forward to. (an afterlife). But if you don't, that's fine too because it doesn't even matter everyone has to die!
Just accept it. You'll be fine.

I think that 12/21/12 is only a date where we are going to live and see the chaos where people think it is the end of the world when it isn't. It's only the end of the non-repeating Mayan Long Calender.
Lol, 6/6/06. That was one of my friggin birthdays. Yeah, I was born on June 6 in some year. Lucky me.

Only God knows that answer and even the numbers you have cited may or may not be the same time to God. 12/21/12 may be next year or tomorrow as someone has already commented. So just trust in the Lord and live right and all will be well. Just relax and live everyday to the fullest, o.K?

No. It's another conspiracy by the religous cults saying that we'll all die. They say their prayers, quickly sell everything they own (wouldn't you?) and wait for death. Does it come? No. Remember last year, when everyone thought we would die on 6/6/06, or 666 if you like? Don't worry, you are not the only one to be worried about this subject, you will not be the last, but you have nothing to fear.
If you are still worried, however, its a small book, usually black with the words 'the bible' on the front. Read it.

Why would it end on 12/21/12? You sound a tad superstitious to me. This is just another lame apocalyptic theory based on a strange number. People have been worried about other dates in the past, and well, we're still here, aren't we? Unless there is some LOGICAL explanation for the end of the world on that particular date, I would say you have nothing to worry about.

A coincidental numeric combination is not going to spell Death to Earth. That's like believing in Y2K. I had a laugh when all those people realized that all that money they'd spent on food and shelters was all worthless because the world didn't end in the year 2000. Chill out! Yes, you're gonna die. Stop worrying about when and live your life. You're wasting time worrying about it. If you keep it up, you're going to realize all you've ever done is worry and play it safe when you could've been out having a good time.

the world will not end, but eventually we will all die but not because of the world. what about 1/1/2000? they say something about ending there but were all here. its just numbers so no need to worry. its all made up see the how its just with 1's and 2's so obvious. we'll live a long time.
