Ya'll look like you're having so much fun over here that I thought I would like to join in. I'm a 60' something retired bead store owner from the Ozarks who can't stand to sit still. I am an artist, make jewelry, do wirewrapping, paint, garden, and my husband and I are rock hounders, and we cut and polish our own stones for jewelry. Looking for an Airstream trailer to travel in maybe next year. What about you?

Definitely go for the Airstream and travel, travel, travel. I traveled in a Winnebago for many years and had a wonderful time. The US is a beautiful country and there's no better way to see it than through your own front window. And you can do that AND sleep in your own bed every night. The SW is the place to go for rock hounding. Do take in Quartzite CA and their mid-winter rock and RV show. Put solar panels on the top of the Airstream and you won't even have to stay in a campground for power. I'm envious.

Very interesting. I'm of the variety type. I'm a truck driver and so is my hubby (which is 9 yrs younger than I). I drive local, he drives over the road. We have 6 kids between us (3 each). I enjoy gardening, yard work, hiking, camping, canoe/boating, fishing, reading and writing poems. I've recently gotten a poem chosen for publication in the 2008 annual International Library of Poetry collection. I pitter patter around here and a few other places of the net.
All 3 of my kiddos are boys, 20, 17 and 15. No grand kids yet (& hopefully not for a few more years at least). Just got the oldest graduated from college and headed in a career. Next one graduates High School next yr. My step kids are monsters! But we all enjoy getting together for Holidays and make a BIG deal of it since that is about the only time we are all together at one time!
I Love my job... greatly enjoy driving the "Big Rigs!" Have been doing that for about 10 yrs now.
I'm just 41 so I have a lot of catching up to do with the rest of you.

I am a retired R.N..3 grand kids, 2 cats..knit baby hats for the local hospital nursery, read, play on the computer, swim 3 times a week, travel in a 5th wheel Trailer, and play board and card games..have a 50th wedding Anniv in Jan. and intend to explore the East Coast and states east of the Mississippi for 4 months or until the money runs out..which might be sooner than we hope with the gas prices going up..We have traveled all the states West of the Mississippi, and into Western Canada..so we will Fly while we still have Wings..as it is getting harder and harder for me to get around.

Oh -Beads-I love Beads!! Don't do much now-need better glasses, those holes are sooooo tiny. Refuse to admit the eyes are getting worse!! I love wire wrapping too although I have never done any. i am the type to read all about a craft-not actually do it!! All kinds of people here. Come in-pull up a chair and have a chat. Oh wait don't chat-That would be a violation. Just ask and/or answer a question or two. You'll get to know everyone soon enough. Debi age 52. I love playing with the Older Kids in this Neighborhood!

I love writing and write part-time for a newspaper. I also get together with several writer friends once a month to share and gab. I enjoy creating photo cards, and also mat and frame photographs that portray the heart of the country. I love reading and learning about many different topics. I enjoy the outdoors and walking with my dog Jessie. She's my special sweetie!

In the summer I find real enjoyment in my gardens, and what I grow, I share with others. Love to cook but I'm alone now so I don't do a whole lot of big cooking these days unless it's a special occasion,or my kids come.( they are across the country now) But what I do cook is always fresh or from scratch..

At one time I grew all my own flowers for drying and made dried wreaths for sale. Love nature and animals and get a great deal of inspiration from both. Get a big kick out of the many birds that come to visit each day. I made a deal with them years ago; you eat my bad bugs in the summer and I'll give you a free lunch in the winter!

Am always puttering around decorating because I like a warm cozy atmosphere. I am a "Country Girl " at heart...

Enjoyed hearing about your many interests. You guys sound like you are having fun.

Isadora, thanks so much for posting this. A couple of us have been speculating about you - and you are FAR more interesting than our feeble imaginations came up with!

First - re your interests - have FUN with the Airstream! If you get it and decide to take a trip, please take "Travels with Charlie" along to read, and perhaps keep a blog as you wend your way wherever. And, of course, FIRST rent a copy of the old movie, "The Long, Long Trailer" with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Make your hasband watch it TWICE before you go out to buy a road atlas!

Put the upper Mojave Desert on your itinerary. I was a young newspaper reporter/editor there and it is HEAVEN for rock hounds. There are some decent trailer camp sites in both Baker and Barstow (phooey on you, Needles and Victorville!) that make wonderful bases for going out to find marvelous semi-precious gems and just great rocks. BE CERTAIN to visit Afton Canyon and Owl Canyon!

Also, if you make it into lower Southern California, be sure to visit the Botanical Gardens in Claremont. It's a great place, and their low-water xeriscaping demonstration plot has been a global model for 40 years. (Yeah, I was a newspaper editor there, too.)

Now, as for me - I am one of those jack-of-all-trades-master-of-some sorts. Former newspaper, television, radio and magazine journalist, PR man, adman, dance teacher, singer/actor, teacher, janitor, pilot, and now historian. Ran political campaigns and movie projectors, saved Walden Woods, invented useless gadgets, tried to improve lawyers' image (HA!), created Honda's US public relations programs, helped spread medical ultrasound, introduced the Heimlich Maneuver to the country, and launched the Krugerrand into the US. Did a ton of environmental work and also tried to burnish the oil industry's image. (Another HA!) Traveled the country giving speeches in favor of alternative energy 20 years ago and wrote really obscure works of history.

I love writing and reading, singing, and dancing. Travel is a joy and delight in exploring new out-of-the-way places. Need a girlfriend to do that with now.

Father of 4 great kids, excellent cook, average housekeeper, and horrible pedant about language and usage. Can be a bit outrageous, unconventional and passionately involved in politics and social justice causes. Kind and gentle but have been known to yell rather loudly.

Think that's it!

Music (making/playing/singing), reading, motorcycling.
I have kinfolk in the Ozarks...Cassville, Barry County, MO. They're here right now in s.e. Va visiting.
Old friend of mine when he was a lad back in Mt. Home, Ark in the early 50's was dirt poor. His brother had a friend who bought an Airstream and was living down by the Buffalo River. They went to see him and Charlie was very impressed. His brother told him, "We'll never be rich enough to afford something that nice." wooo buddy!

Your hobbies sound very interesting, I'm glad you could join us here. Welcome!
I make jewelry too & greeting cards, I still send cards and letters by mail. I visit a local nursing home and prison. I like reading and writing-esp poetry and have church activites. We're learning to compost for our veggie garden next summer. I have fun with our 6 cats and our dog.

My husband and daughter are very interested in the gems and rocks too. She'll be taking geology in her college courses. We went to a gem museum in Franklin, NC, she could have stayed there for hours.
