The US is not a democracy. It is a constitutional Republic. Democracy means death of Rights.

Better to demand enforcement of the Constitution, including our Right to own what is ours and lack of Government permission to take it from us. If you get Democracy, you get a mob of people voting to take from others whatever they feel is 'fair' to take which is far worse than successful corporations (or private individuals) merely trying to keep what is theirs.

The death of a democracy comes quickly when the majority realizes it has the power to vote itself largesse taken from others.

Kelly, I'll challenge you to a debate on this issue anytime.

Democracy has less affect on American policies than the oil, automobile, electronics, and media markets. Democracy is not strong at this point. Let the economy go to hell and democracy will make a comeback though.

The problem is that the government is not run as much by elected officials as by a GIANT, COSTLY bureaucracy. Department such as the FBI and Treasury can not work together with turf battles as an example. For this reason nothing gets done, with little direction and growing costs.

We are a republic and a representative democracy with less than half of eligible voters registered to vote and more than half of our adult population not even knowing the name of their Member of Congress. Ergo, the answer is self-evident.
