It is one of your Fundmental rights under the 6th Amendment. It is both in the US Constitution and your State constitution. It is also guaranteed by the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure and your State's rules on Criminal Procedure. Cases are legion and legendary , whte the right to a Fair Trial has been denied and on appeal the US Supreme Court reversed wrongful convictions based on the Defendant's right to a Fair Trial. See SHEPPARD V MAXWELL and it's progeny. There are many cases decided on this very issue. I will give you a link to the SHEPPARD case. brb.
Here is the link to a Landmark case on the right to a FAIR TRIAL: SEHPPARD V. MAXWELL: http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=384&invol=333
I will give you a link to the 6th Amendment of the US Constitution. Here is the 6th amendment from the US constitution: http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.billofrights.html#amendmentvi
That should help you. Any further questions let me know. BTW, the 6th Amendment has been applied to the State via the 14th Amendment's Procedural Due Process Clause. It is incorporated from the Bill of Rights and is your Fundamental Constitutional Right!

Lots of our rights, such as the trial by jury and trial by twelve peers, draw from the magna carta and the normans.
Look up William the Conqueror and Magna Carta.

As far as the USA is concerned, it was the protestants. Look at protestant history around the time of formation of the USA (which actually took place under the Articles of Confederation, not the Constitution).

"It's better to let 10 guilty men go,.. then imprison one innocent person." by ?
Adventually they all get caught. I'd be the one who video tapes an irrational driver,.. or a cop doing his buisness. A higher standard for evidence is the key.
