Definitely paper bags. I HATE the plastic bags at the store. They ALWAYS break.

I dont' think it really matters if it's plastic or paper. High end department stores hand out plastic bags. It all depends on what you buy. If you buy shoes from Macy's, Nieman Marcus and Nordstrom, they will give you a plastic bag, but if you buy cosmetics/fragrances from either one of those stores, they give you a small paper pag with handles.

I try to always use the re-usable plastic bags from Waiterose. I am not particularly good looking but I do seem to get more admiring glances from pretty young women. Although it may just be my bags they are looking at
