yes, it boosts Target, which puts competitive pressure on Walmart to keep prices down and selection wide.

Not really. Walmart employs people, stimulates trade and creates wealth all over the world. Those are all good things from an economic perspective.
Whatever reasons you may have for not shopping there, go right ahead and follow them. If enough customers feel the same way, Walmart will have no choice but to change business practices or face competition they can't beat because they are unwilling to change with their customers needs.
If you want to help our country, save money like crazy, carry no debt and make sure your local political representatives are doing the same thing. Right now it's the most patriotic thing the average American can do.

Wal mart is the worlds Largest Retailer. So much so That our market anylysts look at Walmarts economic projections and quarterly success and Failures as sort of litmus test for the strength of the Economy. Love it or hate it, Wal Mart is Too multi faceted for any one group to stifle.
Add to it Wal mart is the Only retailer testing Childrens toys from China for Lead and harmful; chemicals BEFORE they hit the shelves this season.

Boycotting Walmart is useless because it has already become too powerful (it is not even a country and has been named the world's 5th largest economy). If you and everyone you knew stopped shopping at Walmart for the rest of your lives, it would still vastly control the world. There are just too many people (mainly lower class citizens who don't have many other options) who are constantly feeding the "monster".

I really hate Walmart, I cannot shop there. I have no patience for the messiness of the store, the rudeness and ignorance of the employees, or the poor quality merchandise. The only recourse we have as consumers it to choose to shop elsewhere!!

Boycotting Wal-Mart does nothing for the country, however you define it. If anything, it hurts Wal-Mart's underpaid workers, who may face layoffs because of dropping sales caused by a boycott...
