Stop paying his bills. If you have joint bills (mortgage, electricity, water, etc) you should split everything down the middle and start charging him for his half that you cover. If he doesn't pay up, then kick him out. You can already pay the bills by yourself. You'll end up saving money with him gone because that will be one less mouth to feed.

Encourage him. All the time. Compliment the little things he is doing. Once he finally gets a job, let him have more control in the relationship for a while. Make him feel like he is the 'man'. By that I mean to give him the position of being in charge and maing some decisions.
Men are funny this way, we define ourselves in our jobs. When men are unemployed they tend to want to do nothing cause we somewhat feel like we are nothing.
It's hard but be strong and tough it out.

hahaha............. People used to do all of their farm work with mules and horses. Occasionaly a farmer would get a mule that refused to work so he tied a long stick to the mules harness and on the end of that stick he tied a carrot that was just out of reach of the mule. The dumb mule would get up and follow the carrot all day trying to reach it and eat it thus getting the work done for the farmer................... Honey YOU ARE THE CARROT....... dangle that sweet little honey pot in front of him but just far enough away so that he cant get to the goodies and only let him lick the pot when he has accomplished the task you set before him.

Tell him you are not sure how the bills are going to get paid. You really need him to find a job so he can contribute.
A little white lie won't hurt either. You choose the one you tell.

You don't.
It's as simple as that. You can either learn to live with him the way he is, or you need to make a change and find someone who's willing to do his share.
Good luck!

if you are supporting him right now. he needs to get up and out to look for a job because it will not come knocking at his door. he is an adult and should want to work, if not kick his butt to the curb.
