I was just going through my girls bath toys and they all have a white residue on them I threw most of them out just cause I think they should be replaced often but how often. Those squirty toys I often find if I don't end up putting them away don't get emptied and the next time they have a bath there is black stuff that comes out what is this.

I agree with the other poster. Likely you have soap residue. I don't know anybody who replaces bath toys unless they are broken, so couldn't give you a 'schedule.' The toys are cleaned. The exception is sponge toys which need to be completely air dried after every use and those do get thrown out after a couple of months.

what I do to keep them clean is every so often put all of the toys in the sink with a little bit of bleach and hot water to soak in and the come clean every time. Just make sure you rinse them really good and if they are still yuck then I would through them away because the black stuff is mold.

The black stuff is mildew. My daughter has a lot of toys too. I sometimes wash them under hot water and gentle soap and let them dry. I also take all the squirt toys out when she is done and squeeze them until all the water is out so mildew doesn't grow. You don't have to replace the toys. I also have a separate bin for her toys to dry in after every bath.

The black stuff that comes out of sqirting toys is mold. Throw it out. Every couple of weeks throw the toys in the dishwasher on the top rack, and after baths make sure toys have air to dry out in.

I had some bath toys - the regular kind not just squirty for my son but since they often built up mold, i ended up throwing them away and now we dont have any bath toys, my son is happy playing with just water and bubbles. atleast i dont have to worry about germs anymore and dont worry about sanitising and cleaning them.

The black is mold. We tossed any of our daughter's toys that had mold in them. I also make sure to empty any of the squirt toys and I also have a toy box that mounts on the tub - it has drains to keep the toys dry.

The white residue is prbly soap. And the black stuff is old moldy water. Clean the toys more often!! Just because they're in water doesn't mean you don't have to clean them.

Put them in the dishwasher once a week.

Only replace them as necceessary, if pieces are worn or broken, of if you notice residues. However if you wash them at least 1x per week it should take care of germs beucas of the temperatures.
