im trying to figure out a word to represent someone looking down at someone else like they knew something the other person didnt...?

condescending.

To me, it implies that someone better is lowering themselves...
If someone is condescending to me, they are pretty darn full of themselves and they are acting like I'm below them.


Here's a slightly different context- Christians will say that Jesus condescended to become a man.... But in this case, Jesus is considered to truly be greater/better than us, so it doesn't bug most people.....

"Intellectual snobbery" comes to mind, for some cases of what you describe. Other times the person might be incredulous at the other's ignorance.
