You can take anything and then enter a cosmetology school, but I think you can actually go to a cosmetology school w/permission before you graduate. My high school even offered credit to students who were going to cosmetology school. Other good classes would be to take business since a lot of places need people who can help look over the books (or if you want to move up and become a manager of a salon and get more money). Take bookkeeping and other business classes at your high school.

Hope that helps.

cosmotology can sometimes be studied at a tech school but most people go to a cosmotology school after they graduate. You will need to have good coordination to cut and style hair, you will need to learn how to mix chemicals and you will have to learn people skills to get along with your customers. Taking home ec wont help in this field, but is always useful in life.

most schools offer something called rop or some sort of skill training. rop offers different off or on classes courses that prepare you for a job. at my high school they offered cosmetology. however i took pharmacy and now work as a licensed pharmacy technician. i have a friend who finished the cosmetology schooling and works in a salong. so see if your school offers something like rop (regional occupation training).

To be a cosmetologist, you would have to understand the English language, know how to count/add/etc., etc, etc.
