I don't know if it's dark, tragic, or passionate but I really liked Sense And Sensiblity by Jane Austen. It was a lot better than Pride And Prejudice and I liked that there were so many plot twists.

I loved Tess of the d'Urbervilles, by Thomas Hardy. A story of tragic lost love. Actually, anything by Hardy will work. They're all pretty tragic.
Also try Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte (sister to the woman who wrote Wuthering Heights). Unlike Wuthering Heights, it has a semi-happy ending, but it is still very gothic, passionate, and pretty dark.
Ann Radcliffe is another popular writer of gothic novels. She was a contemporary of Jane Austen, and was much better known back then than she is in modern times.
Then there's Ethan Frome, by Edith Wharton, which isn't really a gothic novel, but it is a story of tragic love. Relatively passionate.

I love Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. Engrossing story, and very well written. A classic definitely worth buying!

I second Jane Eyre. I would also suggest Rebecca. It's really dark, but if you liked Wuthering Heights, you'll like it.
